A Salisbury Mills man was arraigned Thursday on manslaughter charges in Orange County Court for his connection with the death of his girlfriend last August.
The manslaughter charge alleges non intentional reckless conduct on the part of 26 year old Christian Benson.
Benson, 26, accompanied by his lawyers, plead not guilty to the charge. Prosecutors did not request bail to be set, and Judge Robert Freehill released Benson on his own recognizance.
The incident occurred August 16th in the couple’s home as Benson’s legally owned handgun was handed between the two and the gun fired striking 30 year old Kristi Babcock once in the chest.
Benson was processed at the New York State Police barracks in Montgomery. He is scheduled to return to court on May 29.
